Balance in Life
Everyone always talks about finding balance in life. It is like this elusive thing that we all believe that one day we will find. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow it seems.
So why do must of us never really attain this thing that truly can become life changing if we did? Is balance even possible in this life?
The easier and simple answer is yes. I believe it is. Which below I give you a template on how to create ultimate balance in your life.
But also, I don’t think it is as simple as taking 8 things you need to do that day and devoting an hour to each.
Some days you will need to devote your whole day to things. Others will be put on the back burner on those days. And yet balance is something that is real. If you know what the ingredients for balance are.
So we must dissect the word. And the scalpel we are going to use to do so today is the a formula given to the world by none other than one of the Godfathers of personal development himself, Zig Ziglar.
He considered someone a success in life if they had the following 8 basic things in their life going for them. Which each one of them, I offer you tips on how to attain more of. Which in theory, if we all integrate tips on these to maximize each thing, we can attain balance in our life.
And enjoy the inherent joys that come from living a balanced life.
How To Be Balanced
Happiness, I believe is truly being true to who you are. You can feel it when you are being you. It is such a palpable authentic-ness to it.
We have all had it to where we laugh or be ourselves for a moment of time. And it feels so childlike. And the more we can allow ourselves to simply be ourselves, the more we feel at home in our body.
It is when we are trying to act like someone we aren’t, this is where pain and confusion comes in.
Also, contribution can add a ton of happiness in your life. As when we are scared or anxious or essentially experiencing any unpleasant emotion, we are focused inward. And not in a good way.
We are stuck inside ourselves. And replaying these unwanted emotions more and more. So in order to get out of ourselves, we need to turn our direction literally outside ourselves.
When we give, we feel a sense of contribution. It is a spiritual need that we all subconsciously want to fulfill. But we often forget that it is the key to happiness.
I mean be honest with me, don’t you feel better giving something than getting something? Like at Christmas, isn’t it more fun to watch your loved ones open their Christmas gifts than it is to open our own?
Happiness also comes from letting go of the past. Things that hurt you. Giving forgiveness.
All the negative emotions we hold, cloud our true inner self. Our joyous, childlike abundant nature is blocked when we hold onto these negative emotions.
The more we let go of these emotions and negative thoughts, the closer we get to our true inner perfection. A source of love so powerful. A source that can truly create the life we want.

Of course doing things you are passionate about. This is what really creates such deep happiness in our lives. Again, when we are living our passion, I believe we are closest to our true nature. That all powerful nature, that if I may, is our Christ nature. It is the spirit of God in us.
And the more we engage in our passions, the more we feel this feeling of peace and contentment.
Here are a couple more tips to create more happiness in your life:
- Give gratitude by the truckload
- Become present in your life. Live more in the moment.
- Cherish family and friends.
- Live your truth, not someone else’s.
- Love yourself the way you are, and yet continue to improve yourself.
- Always learn from failure. Failure is an event, not a person.
- Take social media breaks.
- Discipline yourself.
- Live life based on your core values.
- Define happiness for yourself and live the hell out of that definition.
- Create a bucket list and check off as many as you can.
- Read more.
Like anything in life, when we better one area, every single area gets better. And yet when we become more healthy, it permeates through every area of our life. We become more optimistic. Our brain and gut connection is working better. Allowing us to think better.
Also our body is moving in more powerful ways. As our body is our subconscious mind. So when we are become more physically healthy through exercise, we are moving in a much more empowering way. Helping us feel more optimistic and counteract things like anxiety and depression.
Here are a couple tips on how to become healthier:
- Use a calorie counting app.
- Workout out 3 days a week, for a total of 120 minutes a week.
- Make friends with those that lead a healthy lifestyle.
- Look at being healthy as a way of life, not just a diet or doing it for a season.
- Drink your body weight in ounces of water each day.
- Eat a couple servings of fruit and vegetables per day.
- Prep your meals each week.
I think if you can make a billion dollars, do so. The more the better. I think it is absolutely possible to be extremely wealthy and still be balanced in the other 7 things on our list.
Of course you don’t want to make it your biggest priority to where everything else falls by the wayside.
So how do we create massive wealth in our lives?
We’ll I believe one of the greatest answers lies in the book Good to Great. It essentially gives us the formula to where we can become great at something. And honestly when you are great in a profession, I believe money just follows you, in big quantities. As it should.
But the formula was this, without giving away too much of the book:
What are you deeply passionate about?
When we are passionate it about things, we transcend normal limits. We stay up later to do it. We focus on it more. And it has a life of it’s own, and the life is breathed into us. Giving us more staying power and enthusiasm.
What can you be the best in the world at?
Whether it be Apple, Circuit City or Nucor. These massive business found what they could be the best in the world at and did so.
What drives your economic engine?
For example big companies that went from good to great focused on things such as maximizing profit per visit for customers.
But in order to become great at something, these things always have to be tied together. Be passionate it about something, become the best at it and find out how to maximize your bottom line to the max off it.
And stick to this over and over and over. Until you gain maximum momentum to where the vehicle drives itself after awhile. Then don’t get distracted trying to do or be somethings you are not and not passionate about. Stay the course, for life essentially.
Other ways to become more prosperous:
- Put away 10 percent of your income each month toward savings.
- Invest money into stocks, bonds, gold, etc.
- Start a side hustle.
- Offer a service, online or offline.
- Start a blog and advertise on it.
- Drive Uber.
- Sell old things you have on ebay or craigslist.
- Do online surveys.
- Write and promote an ebook.
- Be a mystery shopper.
- Be an extra for movies.
- Sell your photos.
- Rent out your parking spaces if there is high demand for parking.
- Get good cash back credit cards.
- Become a dog walker.
- Lend your own money and charge a good percentage for it.
- Join a network marketing company.
Security means a couple things to me that I think can help you with this portion of the balance equation from Zig.
It first means that you give it your all each and everyday.
Giving your best in life lets your have less fear of the future. Because it gives you peace of mind, which we will talk more about below, that comes from knowing you laid it on.
There is a deep sense of security knowing that you are giving everything you have in this life. Doing your best leads to better things in your life.
Even if your life is in shambles, but you are giving it your all, you can feel more secure.
Also, as Zig would say, integrity can cause us to have no fear. As we are completely honest and never have to worry about lies coming back to bite us. When we live our life being truthful, we feel good about ourselves.
Also, in order to become more secure, we need to run towards our fears. The more we run away from our fears, the bigger the monster gets. Until it gets so big we become paralyzed by fear.
But if we think about it, the more we do something the more competent we get. But the same thing is true with fear. The more we do the things we fear, the less fear has a chokehold on us.
Until one day we are doing without fear, the things that used to scare the living shit out of us. Feel the fear and do it anyways!
Other ways to become more secure include:
You can do this by getting counseling and going through old issues with a professional. We all have things buried deep in us that can affect us in many ways. Usually this is seen through our self-sabotaging habits. Where we do things we normally wouldn’t do consciously.
They can help us bring to light things that are affecting our self confidence.
Join Support Groups
Positivity and true support can come from support groups. This can help us create better mental health which creates for a more secure self. There are a myriad of different support groups, some of which can be found here: Support Groups Online.
Often times the biggest grudge we hold is against ourselves. In order to feel more secure, we need to be our own biggest fan. We messed up, but that doesn’t mean we are a mess up. We failed at something, but that doesn’t mean we are a failure. Give yourself permission to move on from things. Or forgive yourself for mistakes you made. We are only human!
Do a brain dump about your day, your year or your life. Through it forgive people that wronged you. Let them off the hook for YOU not for them.
Also, write out a story of how you would have wanted your life to play out. Simply enjoy that process and replace your old story with a new one. The mind doesn’t know the difference between what is made up and what is real. So what if it is fake? If it makes you feel better, I see that as a big win!
Tell Yourself You Love You
This is literally like pumping ourselves up. Positive self talk is so powerful. But do so on a consistent basis. Wake up in the morning and program your mind for a day of being your biggest fan. For 5 minutes straight just lay there and tell yourself how darn great you are.
Your circle is who you are and who they are. We are products of our environment. And Zig said that one is to have friends as one of the 8 things in life that make one a balanced success. I say you need to have the right friends.
The best businesses on the face of the planet make sure they have the right people on the bus before they even depart.
The same is true in life. Our journey can not be as great if we have the wrong people on the bus. That is why it is crucial that we keep the right company around us.
A few tips on how to create good friendships include:
- Verbally expressing things you love about your current friends.
- Create friendship goals like trips together or monthly coffee dates.
- Listen carefully to the things they say.
- Act like the person you are chatting with is the most important person in the world.
- Leave one-up’ing at the door.
- Be completely authentic. People that matter don’t mind!
- Have conversations of thoughtful disagreement. Nicely disagree to help them.
- Give them empathy.
- Be open minded.
- Try new things together.
- Encourage them and their goals and dreams.
- Become a great cheerleader.

Peace of Mind
True peace of mind, I believe comes from living congruent to the life path meant for you. If your intuition tells you it is the wrong thing for you, don’t do it.
If you are already doing things that go against what you KNOW is right for you, that’s all good. It is never too late to change.
Just speaking from personal experience, mediation has brought a lot of peace of mind to my life. Literally mediation is creating a more peaceful environment in your mind. It is quieting our lower self so we can operate from our higher self. Our intuitive self that is all knowing and has every answer to every problem we have ever had or will ever have.
It is simply a place to where we can solve problems better. We slow down our brainwaves to access the alpha brain waves. We can see things objectively from this point. Not clouded by emotion. To where we can formulate better answer and change our life for the better. We can see truth in its purest from when in deep mediation.
The more you do so, the more of course you fill calm and content throughout your day.
Other ways to create more peace of mind in your life include:
- Paying off debts.
- Being honest and truthful.
- Take the high road.
- Focus on a life of progression and growth.
- Focus on the positive in every situation. There is always one if you look hard enough.
- Walk around in nature more often.
- Declutter your life – become a minimalist!
- Take breaks from social media.
- Set timers on your phone to schedule in things that give you more peace of mind.
- Laugh more than you normally do. Again schedule it in to your day!
- Do your health check ups, so you aren’t worried about it unconsciously.
- Say what is on our mind, don’t suppress things.
- Feel bad feelings for one minute, then move on. Don’t spend anymore time than that on them.
- Create a will. Sounds morbid but it can bring more peace of mind.
- Stand up for the things you believe in.
- Sleep enough!
Also, we need to be having big goals in our life. Things that motivate us to be, do and become more. This will give you peace of mind as you won’t feel as if you are wasting your life. It will also distract you from the negative things in your life as you will be pre-occupied with doing, being and becoming more!

Good Family Relationships
Like it or not, we all come from a set of roots. If you have good family relationships already, they can get better. If not, then it is a good time to work on forgiving the bad ones and building new beginnings with your family.
Here are a few tips on how to build better family relationships:
- Call one family member per week and chat.
- Send a text a day to one family member.
- Schedule weekly or monthly diners.
- Write notes to family members. This one is good if you aren’t ready to talk to them.
- Tell your family you forgive them.
- Call up a family member and laugh about a funny memory.
- Schedule a date with one person a week in your family and rotate in continuously.
- Share meals together as much as you can.
- Have family goal sessions.
- Plan and go on a family vacation.
At the end of the day, it can be awkward at first to cultivate better family relationships. But at the end of the day, is it going to matter in a 100 years if you felt awkward? No! The person will either deeply appreciate it or not. And yet it is worth it to put in the extra effort to build a solid family base.
Once you do this, others will follow suit. You can become a strong family unit.
Hope really comes from having massive meaning in your life. When you have meaning you simply wake up and go through the day with much vigor and energy. You look FORWARD to something. Instead of looking back. It brings positive anticipation to your life.
When you see the future as being better than your present, then hope is strong. Hope is so extremely powerful. It can get you through extremely rough times.
A big tip on how to create hope is turning your SHOULD’s into MUSTS. This is crucial as you will be viewing your life as something that is getting accomplished. Not put on the back burner.
You see yourself as a person who is out to accomplish. This will remind you that when you get to the end of your life, you won’t have regret. You either accomplished the things you wanted, or died in the pursuit of. And that makes for a damn good life.
Another tip I can give you on hope is to engage in self-reflection. Focus on what is working in your life and what is not. You can building upon the good, and rid yourself of the bad. It can allow you to catapult your life into an uphill spiral.
Also focus on 3 things in life that can create a feeling of self empowerment. Whether that is standing up for a cause, create a cause, reading good books, listening to good podcasts or simply giving gratitude to strangers.
Adopt 3 habits that you do in your day that create a more empowered YOU. And watch your life completely transform because of it. Your hope will skyrocket!
